Former Team Washo rider, George Parkinson, who has now retired from professional cycling to pursue a career in sports journalism, interviews Montgomery Harville.
GP: So Monty how are you enjoying your time here in Staffordshire?
MH: I’m loving it, it feels like home, the surroundings are beautiful and the team is united and in high spirits, and I’m enjoying the best period of my career so far.
GP: Why do you think that is?
MH: I think I’m learning more about myself as a rider and I’m more experienced and finally believe in myself. I feel both physically and mentally strong and I go out there thinking that I’m going to win. Most of all though it’s the teammates and leadouts that I get to support me.
GP: Tell me a bit more then about your leadout train.
MH: I’ve never had such a strong supporting team in my life before. Ryan, Octav, Mark and Raghib do a fantastic job for me and others including Oswald and Frasier are also great help. My results are largely down to their efforts.
GP: The team has recently added Ernst Themmen to the team, who appears to be your successor, how do you feel about that?
MH: Ernst is a phenomenal rider, technically he is the most gifted rider I’ve ever seen and has a bright future ahead of him. It’d be a pleasure to act as a leadout for him and I’ve been promised the odd captaincy appearance as well. I’m happy here and that’s how I want it to stay.
GP: Are the rumours about the riders going on a team holiday true?
MH: I’m glad to say they are, and we’re all looking forward to it. Team management has decided that everyone deserves a break and a rest and it’ll be treated as a bonding trip for all us riders.
GP: Where you off to then, I fancy a trip too?
MH: Haha. We’re going to Spain for a fortnight. Ossie’s brother owns a 5-star hotel there, yes he’s very wealthy, and has offered to put us up free of charge and in return we’ll promote his hotel throughout the cycling community and England. It should be great.
GP: It’s been a pleasure interviewing you, I hope you have a great holiday and I wish you all the best for the future.
MH: Cheers matey, take care.

Cheers, he's maxed in the main 3 sprinting attributes but not overall yet. Him and Amaro are my current training projects.
Themmen is a very nice, young rider. Good future ahead of him
